May Highlights: Who We're Supporting

Melissa Kolcz |

Welcome to our second issue of Beyond the Portfolio! At Beacon, we believe that strong communities are built on compassion, connection, and action. That's why we're proud to support local nonprofits and we encourage our team to get involved and make a positive impact.

This month's Beyond the Portfolio is all about Philanthropy. Here are just a few of the many organizations that we support in our local community.

CARE for the Cape and Islands - The Beacon Team are long time supporters of CARE for the Cape and Islands who's mission is to inspire stewardship to preserve and protect our natural environment. CARE Day is an annual event that invites volunteers from the business community to participate in a half day of service and education. This year's annual CARE Day was hosted at Pleasant Bay Community Boating in Harwich. PBCB is a nonprofit dedicated to making boating and marine education accessible and affordable. Thousands of people on Cape Cod live within walking distance of the water and have never been in a boat. PBCB is determined to change that.

Animal Rescue League of Boston - On Wednesday, May 7th, Katie attended the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Annual Reception at their Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center. Katie has been a long time supporter of ARL and is a member of the Leadership Circle. The evening honored ARL’s unwavering commitment to animals and the people who love them, celebrating not only their lifesaving work for pets in need, but also their vital community programs that help keep animals with the families who cherish them, even amid rising costs of care and supplies.

One of the evening's most exciting moments was the unveiling of ARL's transformative plans to rebuild and modernize their Boston campus - a forward-looking project designed to expand their reach, enhance animal care, and deepen ARL's impact on communities through the region. Cape Cod Children's Museum Melissa is a proud member of the Board of Directors for the Cape Cod Children's Museum in Mashpee. She is honored to help them celebrate 35 years of inspiring curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning in children and families across the Cape. This milestone is more than a celebration - it's a call to action. The Cape Cod Children's Museum has launched a $3.5 million campaign to expand their exhibits, deepen their educational outreach, and ensure every child has access to the wonder and discovery that their museum offers. Check out the "For the Next 35" Capital Campaign.

American Red Cross Jayme donates blood to the American Red Cross on a regular basis. She has a rare blood type (O negative) which is a crucial blood type in emergency situations and when a patient's blood type is unknown. When you donate blood, you're giving more than just a pint - you're giving hope, strength, and a second chance at life. Your donation can help accident victims, cancer patients, and those undergoing surgeries right here in the local community. The Cape Cod Chapter of American Red Cross is there twenty-four hours a day ... preventing, preparing for, and responding to diasters. Click here to see how you can help.

Falmouth Road Race Kelli is excited to be running the Falmouth Road Race again this year in support of Calmer Choice! While the organization is winding down its in-school programming, the Board is actively exploring ways to continue supporting the community and sharing mindfulness where it’s needed most. Every donation helps them move that mission forward. Click here to support Kelli's run - Thank you so much for your continued support!
