Memorial Day Recipes & Activities

Memorial Day Weekend is here and we wanted to share some recipes and ideas to make it a memorable weekend for you and your family.

• Work on a DIY Memorial Day craft with your children/grandchildren. Try making an American Flag out of paper chains. All you need is Blue, Red and White construction paper, scissors and tape or a stapler.
• Make a festive dish or dessert to share with loved ones like a Patriotic cake with a flag made out of strawberries and blueberries. Make extra and drop it at the home of a fallen soldier.
• Try a White Wine Sangria made with Riesling, Prosecco, Sugar, Strawberries and Blueberries. The mix of the Riesling and Prosecco makes a perfect blend!

• Send a Care Package via 'Support Our Troops'. Honor the heroes of the past by sending a care package to an active duty service member.
• Watch a National Memorial Day Concert. Tune in on Sunday May 30th at 8pm ET via PBS to watch a moving tribute that honors America's servicemen and women from the comfort of your home.
• Take a Virtual Tour of the White House. Kids will love exploring the historic rooms and learning about the fascinating history of the White house with this online tour created by The White House Historical Association.
• Visit a local cemetery to honor and mourn those who died while serving in the U.S. Military. Volunteers dress the graves with flowers and flags.
