October Highlight: Women Owned Business

Beacon Financial Planning, Inc. was recently featured in Cape Cod & the Islands Magazine’s Women Owned Business section, highlighting our firm’s inspiring leadership. As part of a continuum of female leaders, owners Katie Brennan Kane and Kelli Grew each draw inspiration from the women who came before them.

"We had a really groundbreaking female founder, Linda Gadkowski, who started in 1990 when women historically didn't do this job," says Brennan Kane, "and we've kept that momentum going."

"I want to continue representing women in an industry that men have historically dominated," agrees Grew.                                                                                                                   "But beyond that, I want to build something meaningful for young professionals here on the Cape." Grew notes that growing up here,                                                                              the obvious career paths were tourism, healthcare, or the trades. "Personal finance wasn't really an option, especially not at a                                                                                     local firm where two women in their 30s and 40s were calling the shots."
